Weekly content

Week 1

Participants will introduce themselves and comment on their expectations from this session. Participants will vote for the time for WiZiQ sessions. There will be two separate synchronous sessions each week. Moderators will join both sessions but participants will join just one of them according to their time zone. After that, three sample movies will be uploaded to the session podomatic address (http://digitalstories09.podomatic.com) and participants will discuss their ideas related to the use of these uploaded videos in ELT classrooms. Participants will also discuss their ideas synchronously in WiZiQ environment. Participants will be informed about their projects for the session.

Week 2

In the second week participants will collect some media tools such as pictures, short videos, audio files and write a scenario for their movies. In this week's synchronous session, participants will tell their stories and plans for their stories. The other participants will also comment on these stories and make suggestions if they have. Moreover, in this synchronous session, we have a quest speaker, Dr. Derya Erice, for the use of digital stories and will share her experiences about digitalstories in her English language classroom.

Week 3

Participants are required to get a podomatic account before starting the tasks of the week. This week will include basic skills of Windows Movie Maker. Moderator will upload a screen capturing video to the wiki page of the session (http://digitalstories09.pbwiki.com). Participants will try to complete basic tasks using Windows Movie Maker Software watching the video prepared by the moderator and they will publish their works on their podomatic page. In synchronous WiZiQ session, participants will ask their questions related to the problems they might encounter while they are working with the Windows Movie Maker Software.

Week 4

This week will be a continuation of the Week 3 but this time advanced skills, such as editing videos, adding subtitles, credits, etc., about Windows Movie Maker will be illustrated with a screen capturing video. Moreover, participants will be shown how to finish their movies and how to save them on their hard drive. Participants will most probably have difficulty in choosing the video format and finishing the video. These problems will be discussed in WiZiQ sessions of the week. Participants will share their experiences about the software.

Week 5

Through the end of the session, project will have been completed. Participants will have finished their videos a week before, so they will upload these videos on their own podomatic pages and share them with the rest of the participants. Using the comment feature, participants will share their opinions and suggestions.

Week 6

Final week of the session will be an evaluation session as expected. Some expectations expressed at the beginning of the session will be remembered and participants will be asked to compare their expectations and results of the session. Moreover, participants will discuss about their projects and the session will be completed with this week's synchronous session in WiZiQ environment.
